Grace Burrowes started writing as an antidote to empty nest and gracr found it an antidote to life in general. The ending should have left me exhaling dreamy sighs, instead I wanted to slap the heroine…again.
She is a very gifted author and I can’t wait until the next book comes out. It transports readers back into English Regency time and immerses them in vicarious experiences with Valentine and Ellen.
I really enjoyed the emphasis the author placed on the joy that is mere contact, not just constant sex although there is a fair amount of that too. It is in appalling condition and he begins the virtuso of restoring it.
His character keeps this book from being the “same old, brrowes old” Regency romp. This pretending to be gay for virtuosso father history was not mentioned that bit at all in Val’s novel. She also created women who seem to be strong enough to struggle through their meager existences, flee from their troubles, resign themselves to lifetimes of unhappiness, but yet not intelligent enough to recognize or accept the vlrtuoso offered by their paramours from an extremely influential family.
As the fifth son of the Duke of Moreland, Valentine is the musical member of the family. Take to your bed? Book could have been about 75 pages shorter by cutting unnecessary scenes like the villager in the tree musing on the sabotage of the barn and cottage he witnessed, yet he never does anything WITH his knowledge. Nice home-making heroine brings comfort to tortured peer of the realm.

But mostly this book is about these two meeting and falling in love girtuoso first ;they are nice to each other and gets along splendidly. After reading twenty page love-making scenes, I would like a little more to my endings. Refresh and try again. Bo This one’s pretty “meh” – I really didn’t enjoy it.

But really, all of these books by Burrowes all involve a set of interrelated characters and you should just read them all if you like books with romance and lots of siblings and small children running around and good characterization. I liked Val in the other books, and I loved getting to know him in this one.
