One person found this helpful. Her two books that are non-Warshawski novels are: No trivia or quizzes yet. While VI was her normal competent and resourceful self, we found ourselves just slogging through the book with virtually no redeeming entertainment.

Paretsky is a genius. I look forward to being caught up, waiting for the next book to be published, following Ms. As happens occasionally with Warshawski, she finds herself in the company of wealthy people whose families are connected to questionable events in the present and past.

But, just a little. By the end of chapter three she is in a pond with a dead man in a suit on a vacant estate in suburban Chicago in blacilist middle of the night. Paretsky’s politics and background in insurance do come through, but it wasn’t ever heavy-handed or preachy. From there it encompasses so much, it is hard to describe: Indeed I found the descriptions of her cold near the beginning a little too convincing for comfort, since I read Blacklist while down with the flu myself.
